One of the most requested maquettes for our Star Wars™ Archive Collection – Admiral Ackbar™! Sculpted by the legendary, Oscar-winning FX artist, Phil Tippett, this bust-style maquette eventually was chosen to become Admiral Ackbar and the Mon Calamari.
This new sketch edition is part of our work creating authentic replicas with impeccable lineage. We work directly with the original artifacts in the famed prop archives to give fans something truly special! With high resolution 3D scanning and hand paint, our team crafted a faithful recreation of this concept designed for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™, right down to the custom glass eyes!.

The extremely limited Legacy Edition of just 83 pieces goes beyond a signature edition to provide each owner with a truly unique work-of-art. Each maquette in this Legacy Edition will include a premium expanded plaque including a one-of-a-kind color illustration of the Admiral, hand-drawn by Tippett. The included 3 5/8” wide sketch comes beautifully matted within an 5”x7” frame that also houses a hand-numbered metal nameplate, hand-signed by Tippett. That frame can either stand on a table top or hang on a wall.
At approximately 5.5″ tall (including the wood display base), each solid-resin maquette is meticulously hand painted in many layers, all done by the artists in our New York studio, making each a unique tribute to the artistry involved behind the scenes of our favorite films!

The Archive Collection - Recreating an Artifact
During the production of films, the creature effects team will often dream up new and fantastic aliens and beasts by creating small scaled sculptures, called “maquettes,” to showcase their ideas. From this menagerie of maquettes, the film’s director and producer choose which characters will be brought to life for the film as costumes or puppets and what roles they will play in the story.
Sculpted by legendary FX artist and Oscar-winner, Phil Tippett, this concept started as a generic alien and was chosen to be Admiral Ackbar for the film.
