Regal Robot™ is proud to present our CUSTOM EDITION life-sized Chewbacca™ busts by our Custom Character Studio. An authentically crafted 1:1 recreation of everyone’s favorite Wookiee™, this bust stands a giant 36″ tall and includes head and shoulders as well as a portion of hand-made and distressed leather and metal bandolier section.
When ordering this custom item, you’ll be given the option of two different static head sculpts – the Standard Bust (with the mouth slightly open) or, at an additional cost, the Roaring Bust (with mouth wide open in a dramatic roar!).
Much like our life-sized Chewbacca statues, the neck on this extra-large bust is poseable, allowing you to tilt his head, lean it front to back and also turn left to right, giving you a variety of display possibilities.
Each bust is produced in our New York studios, with hours of hands-on work by our professional FX artists. The head is hand painted prior to hand-glued FX style hair, applied in small sections at a time, just like Stuart Freeborn did on the original movie masks. Custom acrylic prosthetic eyes and translucent resin teeth with a silicone tongue give this bust added realism and depth.
Like all of our Wookiee creations, this bust was developed with access to an original production-made face skin and teeth castings, along with hands-on examination of the original costume, mask and hair used in the original trilogy films.

Oversized Continental US shipping in two large boxes is $149. A signature will be required for delivery. Recreating an Artifact
“In my professional life, I’ve been fortunate to work on a number of Chewie related projects, from restorations to re-creations, and have studied various versions of the character up close and hands-on. I’m so excited to be able to bring that experience to our work in our new Custom Character Studio and hope that fans can see the love and care that went into this tribute to one of my favorite characters!” Tom Spina (Regal Robot founder).
Our new Life Sized Chewbacca Bust – Custom Edition was developed by working with an original foam latex face produced by Stuart Freeborn, who created Chewbacca for the original films. We used both digital technology and practical effects artistry to bring this character to life. While sculpting the head in clay, Tom Spina approached this as we would a restoration, maintaining as much of the original subtle style of detail and texture as possible. Castings of original production teeth were carefully re-tooled and cast in translucent resin for use in this bust, and lineage like that helped us to be extremely authentic to the original movie masks.
Using modern FX-style modacrylic hair and with hands-on access to an original trilogy mask and suit, we had the fur meticulously reproduced by the same shop that has created the fur for film Wookiees in the past. Four different hair colors make up the gray sections, and five are within the brown. Additional hand blending comes into the mix when our artists hand apply the hair on the face of each Chewbacca bust, a little at a time, just as Freeborn did with the original masks. And, of course, every bust gets a final trim and intense styling session before it leaves our studio!
