This very special Ephant Mon™ Concept Maquette Replica Legacy Edition is part of our Star Wars™ Archive Collection, a continuation and expansion of our work creating authentic replicas with impeccable lineage.
This substantial maquette is a look inside the mind of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™ creature shop head, Phil Tippett, and his fantastical and creative style of creature design. With hands-on access to the original film artifact and high resolution 3D scanning, our team crafted a faithful recreation of this early concept for the classic character.
This extremely limited Legacy Edition of just 45 pieces goes beyond a signature edition to provide each owner with a truly unique work-of-art. Each hand-painted maquette in this edition will include a premium expanded plaque including a one-of-a-kind illustration of the creature, hand-drawn by sculptor, Phil Tippett. The included 3 5/8” wide sketch comes beautifully matted within an 5”x7” frame that also houses a hand-numbered metal nameplate, hand-signed by Tippett. That frame can either stand on a table top or hang on a wall.
At approximately 13.25″ tall (including the wood display base), each sizable resin maquette features added details like coarse, hand-applied hair and an extensively aged fabric cloak. 100% made in the U.S.A., every resin and mixed-media replica in this edition is meticulously hand painted by the artists in our New York studio, making each a unique tribute to the artistry involved behind the scenes of our favorite films!
The maquettes are hand packed in a gloss black box with die-cut foam insert and COA, and double-boxed for shipping.

During the production of films, the creature effects team will often dream up new and fantastic aliens and beasts by creating small scaled sculptures, called “maquettes,” to showcase their ideas. From this menagerie of maquettes, the film’s director and producer choose which characters will be brought to life for the film as costumes or puppets and what roles they will play in the story.
Sculpted by creature shop head, Phil Tippett, this concept was chosen to be Ephant Mon for the film. Over the years, the character has had figures made and been seen in many behind the scenes photos of Jabba’s palace in books and documentaries like “Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi” and “From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga.”
