Spotlight – Custom Star Wars™ Darth Vader™ Meditation Chamber Desk

Today we’ve added a new page showcasing our latest official Star Wars furniture-art creation – an incredible desk and chair set inspired by Darth Vader’s meditation chamber seen in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Custom made in New York, this stunning desk immediately brings to mind the scene it was inspired by! The bold white interior pops against the stark black outer shell. Custom millwork and durable laminate emulate the iconic chamber from the film.

Not satisfied to just create an amazing new desk, we also brainstormed with our client to find ways to further bring the movies she loves into her life… or in this case, her work! As a tattoo artist, she wanted to see if there was a way for us to dream up something that would be more than just your normal work station and bring some additional creative energy into her studio.

We explored a number of Imperial and Darth Vader themed furniture concepts and working closely with Lucasfilm, we sketched a bevy of interesting chairs and furniture based on Darth Vader and the Death Star.  Eventually, we hit on the idea of creating a desk based on Vader’s iconic meditation chamber. Bridging form and function, we captured the look of that chamber in a three sided desk. Angled shapes reach up to the sky, as if waiting for the top half to descend as it did in the film. The end result is a functional desk with a work space that, while not being a direct replica of the set, feels plucked right off the screen! The faux leather, adjustable height stool was custom upholstered to mirror the look of the seat in the chamber on set. The finishing touch is a built-in adjustable desk lamp, crafted to look like the crane which held Darth Vader’s classic helmet in the scene!
